Montefiore’s mission- to heal, to teach, to discover and to advance the health of the communities we serve – serves as the driving force behind all of our work, including The Fine Art Program and Collection. The Collection is integrated into the daily life of Montefiore, fostering a life-affirming, restorative and supportive environment for patients, families, caregivers, students, faculty, and staff.
Consisting of six exhibition spaces, both indoor and outdoor, our rotating gallery spaces highlight local Bronx artists, the history of medicine, the environment, and much more! We strive to educate patients and staff as well as enliven spaces with new exhibitions throughout the year.

The Collection is built through acquisitions, commissions, exhibitions, donations of art and other related visual arts programming. As it grows with quality acquisitions, the Collection will appreciate over time, further supporting Montefiore into the future.

As Montefiore continues to advance state-of-the-art healthcare, the Fine Art Program brings patients the newest in digital technology to distract, minimize pain, and showcase contemporary art in a way never done before in a hospital setting.
Innovation Program
"In the main entrance, a huge 'light as air' sculpture greets the visitor. It shimmers from white to the most beautiful blue colors. Upon closer look, you see it is made of painted and dried leaves in motion forming a chandelier. You have to see it. All of this takes you away from why you are in the hospital in the first place."
