Burke Rehabilitation Hospital announced the launch of a new inpatient neurorehabilitation gym in April 2021 designed to facilitate an innovative multi-disciplinary approach to therapy. The expanded facility enables the entire rehabilitation team to treat the patient in the same space, allowing for collaborative work and continuous communication with patients and their families/caregivers.
Infusions created by artist Jamie Harris features 5 monoprint panels with a progression of modulating colors and abstract shapes that derives from his glass blown sculptures, referencing the movement of molten glass. In response to the beauty of the Burke campus, Harris selected colors that evoke the sky, ocean, landscape, light, and nature. Jamie’s hope is for this artwork to create an atmosphere of encouragement, with colors that are uplifting, and imagery that projects a sense of movement and motion. Infusions new home in The ISC Neuro Gym creates an environment that is both calming and inspirational for patients, family, therapists, and doctors in support of the rehabilitation process.
Recipient of Burke Rehabilitation Hospital's first art commission Infusions (2021) provides an atmosphere of encouragement with colors that are uplifting and imagery that projects a sense of motion and movement. The artwork is being enjoyed by our patients, family members, therapists, and doctors in support of the rehabilitation process.
Jamie worked with Burke's Team (Senior Leadership, Rehabilitation Therapists, Facilities Mgt. and Curator) and understood the healthcare environment parameters.
